Homemade Chicken Katsu Curry Recipe – Crispy, Comforting & Easy
Golden, crunchy, and deeply satisfying, chicken katsu curry is one of Japan’s most-loved comfort foods — and surprisingly easy to make at home.

Ingredients (Serves 2–3)
From the Morueats Japanese Cooking Essentials Set:
- 50g Panko Breadcrumbs
- 100g Japanese Style Katsu Curry Sauce
- 150g Sushi Rice (uncooked, makes ~2 cups cooked)
Other Ingredients:
- 2 boneless chicken breasts (approx. 150–180g each) or 1 medium aubergine (for veggie option)
- 2 tbsp plain flour (for coating)
- Olive or vegetable oil for shallow frying (approx. 100ml)
- Optional veg: 1 carrot (sliced), 1/4 cabbage (shredded), spring onions, or boiled potatoes

Method
- Cook the rice: Prepare sushi rice according to pack instructions.
- Coat the chicken: Dip in flour and then panko breadcrumbs.
- Fry: Shallow-fry each side for 4-5 mins until golden and crispy. Drain on kitchen paper.
- Heat the sauce: Warm katsu sauce in a small saucepan.
- Serve: Slice the katsu, serve over rice, and spoon over curry sauce.
